What is safety of Imatinib?
The safety profile of imatinib was similar in adults and children with leukemia. The difference in the safety profile of the drug when used in CML and solid tumors was more frequent and more severe myelosuppression in patients with CML and gastrointestinal and intratumoral bleeding in patients with solid tumors, which may be due to the characteristics of the disease. Myelosuppression, gastrointestinal (GI) events, edema and rash occur with the use of imatinib for both CML and GI stromal tumors.
